DETENTION OFFICER

A Detention Officer manages the intake of Department arrestees including booking, fingerprinting, and maintaining custody and control of arrested persons. ALL positions include duties which require the ability to type using a computer keyboard.

Starting Salary: $52,680 - $77,047 Annually

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 18 years of age; • GED or High School Diploma desired, but not required; • No felony convictions; • Good physical condition; • Must complete the 9½-week Training Academy

ENSURING SAFETY AND SECURITY

General Duties Book suspects; Fingerprint inmates; Escort prisoners to and from cells; Search inmates and prisoners; Inspect housing cells on a periodic basis; Supervise inmate meals; May be required to use restraints in inmate custody control situations

• Detention Officer • Senior Detention Officer - You may test for this position after working as a Detention Officer for 18 months. • Principal Detention Officer - You may test for this position after working as a Senior Detention Officer for six months.
